Use a practice test to plan your next study session

Try 50 questions, review the answers and choose a useful next step for your Zurich Grundkenntnistest preparation.

A practice-test score gives you one piece of information. Reading the answers can give you something more useful: a clear idea of what to work on next.

Here’s a simple way to use the existing practice tests in SwissFlashcards as part of your preparation.

Try 50 questions

Choose Take Practice Exam from the dashboard. The app gives you 50 randomly selected questions from the bank.

Read each question and choose an answer before submitting the test. If you’re unsure, make a note for yourself about whether the difficulty was the topic, the German wording or choosing between similar answers.

That note can be as short as “look up this word” or “read this topic again”. You can use paper or whatever notes app you already have.

Read the results while the questions are fresh

After you submit, you can see your score and review the questions with the correct choices.

Start with the answers you got wrong, then look at the ones you guessed correctly. For each, try to explain why the correct choice fits. If the wording was the problem, read the German again and use the English translation where it’s available.

Choose a few things to revisit. A short list is easier to act on when you come back to studying.

Turn your notes into the next session

You might decide to read a section of the question bank in Review, try another 10-question practice session, or spend a little time on words that kept coming up.

Give the next session one clear purpose, such as “understand these three questions about local government”. Then try another practice test when you want to check what feels more familiar.

Look at your history over time

Completed practice tests appear in Exam History on the dashboard, with dates and scores. You can look back at earlier attempts as you continue preparing.

Each test uses a random set, so a change in score can also reflect which questions appeared. Use the results alongside your notes about what you understood and where you needed help.

I hope this gives you a useful way to turn a test result into something you can do next.

Take a practice test.
